Our Story

Our Story

We thought that government would protect us—instead they asked us to “make sacrifice.”
Reasonable sacrifice, they called it.

WEACT was formed in May 2025 in response to an environmental threat by a foreign-based company — Rayneau Construction — intent on setting up an industrial complex - lierally on our doorsteps. There were no billboards, as the law requires and no consultation with the community.

The plant was 10 times closer than the regulatory distance The Government, said “make sacrifice…” More than 30 years we had lived nar the Perseverance Dump. Now the quarry and the batching and asphalt plants - and a jetty were being illegally constructed without planning permission and it seems that all the government wanted us to do was to keep calm and carry on.
